We have had a great time crafting this past week. Bird Feeders were the first craft we tackled, and we did it together as a family. For our feeders, we decided to use two different bases: pinecones and a toilet paper roll, peanut butter (you can use sun butter if you have an allergy), twine, and, of course, bird seed.
Naturally, peanut butter and bird seed can get a bit messy, but that’s ok. Just throw a pan underneath it and embrace the fun. With Geneva only 20 months old, we had to help get the peanut butter into the crevices of the pinecones. She enjoyed dipping the spreader into the peanut butter and eating it. Honestly, she probably ate more than the bird will lol. Once we had the feeders built, Geneva found three places to hang them. So far, both the birds and the squirrels have been enjoying them. Make sure you check the bird feeders if they’ve been out for a while, as you don’t want them to develop mold.

Geneva is enjoying the peanut butter.
Later on, Geneva made the cutest Polar Bear face with just construction paper and tempera paint. As you can see in many of the pictures, Geneva rocks an old shirt of mine as her crafting shirt. Perhaps one day we will get her a smock, but for now, this works perfectly.
This was a two-step process as we needed to make sure the paint dried. So Step one is create the bear’s fur. We tried using a fork at first, but Geneva preferred her paintbrush. Feel free to use anything that you think would create a texture. While the paint dried, I cut out the bear’s ears, eyes, and snout. If Geneva were older, I know she would have enjoyed doing that. To attach the ears, eyes, and snout, I put tape on the back of them. She enjoyed moving them around. Once she found her perfect place, I decided to glue them down. Check out the YouTube videos for the full tutorial, and thanks for crafting with us!

The finished product is hanging on our fridge.
